FRC Mentor Interest Form

1 Start 2 Complete

In 2025, we mounted our defense. With surrounding cities continuing their advance in STEM education, hoping to once and for all take Lynchburg off the map, we managed to recruit the right commanders, armed with the tools necessary to change the course of battle. The enemy is reeling from our surprise attack and the time is ripe to continue our press and regain ground lost in the past two decades. But to succeed, we need you, the makers.

Last year, 8 of 14 students said their mentor "had a significant positive impact" on their lives. If you're intested in joining this effort, read our FRC Mentor Handbook and consider applying to be a mentor using the form below.

The FRC program takes place over three different seasons: Build season, Competition Season, and Post-Season.

  • Build season (Jan - Feb) is 8 weeks of robot building madness.
  • Competition season (Mar - April) takes place over the following 6 weeks, which involves traveling and competing in nearby events (Richmond, Blacksburg, NOVA).
  • Post-Season (Sept - Dec) will involve trainings and a few irregularly spaced community engagement events: Maker Faire, robot site visits, mentoring middle school teams, etc.

Meetings will take place Mon-Th from 6 - 9pm and Saturdays from 10am - 4pm. In order to ensure a great experience for mentor and student alike, we require that mentors commit to at least 3 weeknights or 1 weeknight + Saturday every week during build and competition season.
