Storage Policy

In order to be a space for learning and tool access (see Culture Deck Slides 3-6), we cannot provide storage for all member materials and projects. Storage is available on a limited basis and is encouraged to be used only when necessary. An empty or stagnant storage bin does not support our mission. Storage is available in the following options:

Storage Bin: $15/mo allows members to store items in a 17 gallon storage bin. Bins are provided, or you may bring your own not to exceed 17 gallons and 27” L x 18” W x 12.5” H. All member items must fit inside the bin, with the lid closed completely. Storage bins can be reserved online, and will auto-bill monthly until canceled. Once you have made a reservation, select an empty bin from the member storage rack (empty bins have lids stored below the bin) and label the bin clearly with tape displaying your name and the start date of your storage reservation.

Storage Rack: $50/mo allows members to utilize a larger storage area for ongoing projects. A 72" x 20" x 20" horizontal open storage space is provided. All member items must fit in the designated storage area, with no items protruding outside of the space. Storage racks can be reserved online, and will auto-bill monthly until canceled. Once you have reserved a storage rack, select an empty rack space and label the space clearly with tape displaying your name and the start date of your storage reservation.

Temporary Work-in-Progress Storage: Occasionally, an item that is drying or curing may need to remain at the makerspace overnight. This is allowed at no charge on a very temporary basis. Items in mid-production should be clearly labeled with the maker’s name, contact info, date of return, and any instructions should the item need to be moved to accommodate other members or students. Items left should be placed out of the way and tended to within 24 hours; the maximum amount of time a project should remain at the makerspace in total is 1 week.

Cancellation

To cancel your storage reservation:

  • Log into your PayPal account and click Profile (the gear icon) on the top right corner of the page.
  • Navigate to the Payments tab and click “Manage Automatic Payments”.
  • Select the Vector Space storage subscription in the left column and click Cancel.
  • Follow the instructions to cancel the agreement.
  • Due to administrative costs, refunds cannot be issued for storage reservations. Please remember to cancel your reservation and clear your storage space when you’re done with it.

Unattended Items

Items left at the makerspace that do not utilize any of the three available storage options will be either discarded or offered up for member use. For the success and well-being of all, items left out even accidentally cannot be maintained or stored without going through the proper channels. Continual neglect of the member storage policy will result in a temporary termination of membership.
