Vector Space Week of Making
This summer Vector Space is celebrating the national Week of Making with community events and a fundraising campaign. Join us June 11-17 to learn more about our programming and support the makers in your community.
Vector Space is in its third year of serving Lynchburg and surrounding counties as the only community makerspace. In this time, we have grown a diverse membership that works to improve their own lives and the lives of others. K-12 students have reached new heights as they launched balloons into space, participated in a national rocketry competition, and built drones from scratch. Each month we introduce members of the Lynchburg community to new skills while opening the door to new opportunities in our classes and workshops.
Funds raised during this campaign will support our community and educational programming, including increased resources for entrepreneurs, after school STEAM programming, interactive public art projects, and free educational events throughout the year. Research has identified makerspaces as a key part of the ecosystem of successful cities. The economic climate of cities like Pittsburgh, Brooklyn, and even Burlington, NC (with a population of 52,000) have improved with the support of open, collaborative workspaces that offer STEM education and trade skills parallel to those that we provide at Vector Space.
