Duration  2 hours per student

Cost  $80 ($65 for members)

Class Size  2

Ages  14+

Description

Enjoy a safe and informative learning experience while further learning about  the tools and equipment used for wood turning! This workshop is for those who have already taken our Intro to Wood Lathe Workshop with Des.

Partipants of this workshop will use Ambrosia Maple lumber to make a hollow bowl and incorporate design elements such as grooves, lip shapes, and more. This requires the participant to discuss the design concepts, think through how to achieve the finish product, turn two pieces and glue together, then finish turning and embellishing. We will use super glue to speed the process.

Please note, there are two time slots for this class with the first session starting at 1 pm and then next starting at 3:00 pm. Only one participant will be allowed at a time in the sessions. After registering, you will be asked which time slot you would like to choose. Please be aware that it is first come first serve for these time slots as there is only one instructor for this class.

COVID-19 and Class Safety Policies

Per our COVID-19 safety requirements, we ask that all participants of classes, as well as members working in the space, wear a mask indoors at all times as well as maintain a distance of at least 6 ft of each other when possible.

During instruction, there will be physical touch from the instructor as he will need to guide your hand along the lathe as you work for increased safety measures. Gloves will be worn by the instructor during this time. Because of this close contact with the instructor, an extra layer of COVID-19 precautions will be in place. These precautions include both a mask and a face shield worn by the instructor along with the gloves mentioned prior.

For further class safety, participants are asked to wear short sleeves, a high neck shirt, no jewelry, and long hair must be secured behind the head using a ponytail holder.

Safety apparel of a dust mask, full face shield, and leather apron will be required for participants to wear during the class session and are provided. Partipants are to bring their our mask to wear during the instruction and planning phase.
