Female Fashion + Coding Class

Registration is closed for this event
A class in fashion design, sewing, and computer programming.

The future of fashion is tech. In 2017 Vogue introduced Vogue Code, an annual summit that brings fashion and technology together. From form to function, fashion designers are picking up new tricks from the tech industry faster than ever. 3D printed fabric, sensors built into accessories, lights that move with you: the possibilities are endless.

In 2019, Vector Space and Best Buy are bringing the future of fashion to teen girls in Lynchburg. This six-week class will include lessons in:

- hand sewn details and machine sewn garments
- sewable electronics and conductive thread
- computer programming
- programmable lights and sensors
- working with textiles like leather, fabric, plastic, and more

Each student will curate a look to include one accessory and one garment, to be showcased at the Fashion Show on stage at Lynchburg Mini Maker Faire on March 24th. Designers will receive runway training from Let's Talk Fashion Virginia, and showcase their own designs in the fashion show. Each student will work with hair, makeup, lighting, and music professionals to complete their look for the runway.
