Michael’s interests lie in both greenwood carving and blacksmithing. He was introduced to greenwood carving after watching a demonstration in 2016. He soon became thoroughly obsessed with all things hand carved and hand turned. Mike’s passion for blacksmithing grew out of necessity for making tools for his pole lathe. Soon after, he discovered that wood and metal complement each other in many ways and his love for working with metal grew by the day. He currently enjoys hand forging items for around the home such as wall hooks, coat racks, shelf brackets, bottle openers, and all the necessary tooling that goes along with it. He has been blacksmithing since 2017 and has invested a lot of time and money in learning the craft on his own. Mike enjoys teaching others both in blacksmithing and woodworking and loves passing on the knowledge of traditional crafts using hand tools and tried and true methods.
