Our goal was to take a picture of the Earth. We thought about simply enjoying existing images easily found online, but similar to the satisfaction gained from changing your own brake pads, we decided it would be more enjoyable to take the pictures ourselves. So with three engineers at the lead, we recruited two teams of high schoolers for our very own mini-space race. Each team had seven students from a variety of backgrounds and local schools, and each was led by one of our engineers.
Vector Space is a nonprofit makerspace on Fifth Street in Lynchburg, Virginia. We are open for membership and offer classes and workshops. Our space is 4,000 sq ft of fun; we're equipped with a full woodshop, a metal shop, electronics benches, computer lab, 3D printer, textiles and more. Come get messy in our hands-on, STEAM focused makerspace!
Membership gets you a key to the space, safety training and 30 new friends. Check out our classes and workshops to see what kind of things you can learn in a more structured environment. Questions? Get in touch.
