A basic introduction to computer programming with the Raspberry Pi. This workshop is for high school and college aged girls.

This workshop is for high school and college age girls. Why? Because we need more women in computer science, and this workshop's goal is to help make that happen.

No, we're not talking about the dessert!  At the Raspberry Pi Workshop you will learn all about what a Raspberry Pi is and all the fun things you can do with it.

We will be covering the following topics:

  • What is the Raspberry Pi?
  • Example Projects
  • Hardware and Software Overview

And we'll be writing code together to build the following projects:

  • Blink an LED
  • Make a Video Game in Scratch to test your reaction time
  • Write a Python-powered web server
  • Read a temperature sensor and display it on the web

You can bring your Raspberry Pi or just borrow one for the day. Either way, get ready to have a ton of fun!

This workshop is generously sponsored by the Junior League of Lynchburg.
